It must feel pretty good to be in the shoes of Michelle Ochs and Carly Cushnie, the design duo behind Cushnie et Ochs, right now! They showed in NY Fashion Week in September (the reviews were stunning! Vogue said their dresses were "masterfully tailored.") They had a successful run with the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, designed the custom dress that Michelle Obama wore for Christmas in Washington and just released their first ad campaign. The super-cool campaign was shot by Hugh Lippe and features model, Milou Van Groesen. What did the girls say about the Fashion Fund? On being in the top ten finalists: "Being a part of the CFDA/Vogue ten this year was the most amazing experience. We were so thrilled to have been nominated and the exposure from the whole process has just been incredible."
Their sleek, minimalist designs have made the young designers' brand an industry favorite since their debut in Spring 2009, which also yielded rave reviews. This is likely just the beginning of much well-deserved praise, many ad campaigns, and various famous faces wearing Cushnie et Ochs! Plus, it doesn't hurt that they graduated from Parsons with the Designer of the Year award, previously won by Jack and Lazaro of Proenza Schouler!
