Irish fast-fashion retailer, Primark, which prides itself in providing low cost knockoffs, is knocking off young "It" designer, Prabal Gurung, this season. From the looks of this picture (taken at one of Primark's London stores), Prabal's Resort 2012 collection is taking the biggest hit. The yellow dress in the center bears a striking resemblance in its construction, color-blocking and floral print to PG's Resort collection. The purple frock is likely also a PG knockoff as purple was the main hue for his Spring 2012 collection, but its difficult to tell from this picture.
In addition to being completely insensitive to this designer's creativity, hard work and his emerging business, stealing another's designs is terrible because it is completely legal in the US. Due to the lack of design protection, anyone can steal someone else's original fashion designs and market them as their own without facing any legal ramifications.
